ABOUT BERKELEY SIGNS - A SAN FRANCISCO SIGN COMPANY

Steve Vigeant started his career in 1980 repainting faded signs across the United States working out of the back of his station wagon.

Steve officially registered Berkeley Signs in 1989  (also known as A San Francisco – Bay Area Sign Company)  that has since evolved into a Full Service Sign Company serving businesses all over San Francisco. View Clients page to see recently completed custom sign projects.

Berkeley Signs currently designs and manufactures a wide range of up-to-date and period-sensitive sign art for commercial and private use.

Berkeley Signs often collaborates with business owners, graphic designers, architects, varied artists and homeowners to enhance & support their project vision.

Our specialties include hand-lettering, wall-painting, carved lettering, specialty window work, gilded finishes, dimensional lettering, acrylic sign faces, custom wood and metal structures . Berkeley Signs also offers graphic design, logo and branding consulting as needed to enhance the client’s vision and create a fully realized graphic statement. Steve Vigeant at Berkeley Signs has successfully filed sign permits in Berkeley, Emeryville, Oakland and San Francisco and a dozen other cities in the Bay Area, California.

Berkeley Signs features classic workmanship utilizing a wide variety of sign making techniques – from traditional handpainting, gold & copper leaf, painted decoration, dimensional letters, painted murals and artistic finishing to the latest in waterjet-cut metal, laser-cut acrylic, plotter-cut vinyl and digital imaging. We enjoy participating in sign restorations especially when we can sustainably re-use, preserve or recycle materials. All of this work is satisfaction guaranteed and there is a great deal of repeat business to show for it.

Berkeley Signs maintains successful relationships with hundreds of local businesses that are widely viewed by thousands in the Bay Area each day.

Our clients range from small retail shop owners and home-owners to a varied list of corporate, industrial and non-profit institutions in numerous municipalities from Concord to Marin, and from the South Bay to the wine country.

In 2006,  Berkeley Signs – A San Francisco – Bay Area Sign Company was featured in the internationally distributed Sign Craft magazine. Steve Vigeant has written over 100 articles for Sign & Digital Graphics Magazine (formerly Sign Business Magazine) which cover many topics relating to sign making.

Working in the tradition of historic artisan guilds, Artistic License members provide a wide range of services and products from architectural design and building restoration to period furnishings and fine finishes.

Steven Vigeant is dedicated to researching and sustaining traditional sign and related crafts that are becoming a rarity in today’s sign market.
